We are now near the end with this project. After decalling and dullcoting, the tank car is ready to be weathered. I'm quite satisfied with the final result considering I had no accept to any relevant color pictures. At best, this is an educated guess, but it looks quite convincing.
That's a very nice looking tank car, Matthieu. Well done!

Thanks Trevor. And for once, it could fit perfectly your era (built in 1954).
DeleteHere is a link to an image of two B/A tank cars in May, 1957. That band is sliver. It does not show up well in the photo, but an article in Railroad Model Craftsman had a photo of CN #7700 in Montreal with a B/A tank with the silver band.

Steve Lucas.
Thanks for the late but definite answer to that question. I've already seen that picture (many times) on this website, but it was hard to interpret the color when you don't know what it is exactly. Seems Black Cat decals information was misleading at best with their yellow-orange hint. Well, I'll live with what I did, but will be more careful if I ever paint one again! ;-) Once again, thanks, it will be probably useful to other modelers. Does the RMC article photo shows if the upper part of the tank is green?
