CN 40ft Insulated Boxcar - Part 5

Here's some picture of the first 40ft boxcar with dry transfer lettring on. ACI label and lube data are Microscale decals.

Here's a picture of cars built during the summer and ready to receive a good coat of weathering. Looks like we now have almost every car needed to handle the Murray Bay Subdivision traffic.

  1. Nice looking car, Matthieu. Great job!
I remember seeing insulated cars with heaters and side vents in Eastchester Yard in St. Catharines, Ontario back in the 1980s - I think delivering ingredients to a food processor adjacent to the yard. I always wanted to model some of these. I'll have to look up my prototype data to figure out when they were introduced on the railway.
    Cheers!

    1. Thanks Trevor!
According to Richard Yaremko's book, most of them were built between 1959 and 1963. Maybe a little bit late for Port Rowan. I do agree, they have a lot of character.

    3. You've got already enough on your plate! ;-) But I think a good looking 8-hatch reefer with the heater is a good trade off both in look and accuracy.
